Brazilian stoner/sludge/grunge trio Pezu stream their first EP, entitled »Dinossauro de Percata«, which was released on August 5th, 2022 via Fuzzrious.

The band Pezu was formed in August 2020 in Olinda-PE and the sound proposal is the mix between musical genres from rock to heavy metal such as stoner, doom and sludge. In addition to having influences ranging from grunge to classic punk.

“On August 5, 2022 the Brazilian band Pezu officially released their newest material through the label Fuzzrious, the EP »Dinosauro de Percata«. The band’s debut EP was produced in the first half of the year 2022 and the lyrics tend to have a surrealist content, being more abstract in some songs and more concrete in others. The sound is “moody rock”, heavy, a sound that moves between different genres without worrying about a fixed identity. The subjects approach themes such as human perversion, moral instability and isolation, ranging from songs with a comic character.

Comic relief here is treated as an act of revolt, a reaction to the absurd, because in times of economic instability, political corruption and, consequently, the trivialization of imbecility, the normal thing would be to react with anger, with hatred and sadness. The meanings are treated in an abstract way so that listeners stimulate their imaginations and have the freedom to reflect on the topics covered.

About art, what can we say? “Visceral, Cathartic and Symbolic. The Brazilian Kaiju itself. The cover art, made by Franci Castro, refers to dissatisfaction with the political scenario of pandemic Brazil, Brazil thrown into the gutter, Brazil where kindness is naivety and imbecility is dignified cleverness of appreciation. A way to spew out all the dissatisfaction that clings to and gives you a lump in your throat. Enough, that’s all art wants to say.”
