Sounds For The Lost Generation

Doomed Confessionary: Roan, Dave, Daan & Milan (Green Policy)

Green Policy is a stoner rock/grunge quartet hailing from Amsterdam/Utrecht, Netherlands.

The band originally formed at the Dutch Pop Academy, as a protest against their school’s cannabis Policy. Led by frontman Dave Bouquet they thread silently through the haze of the Dutch underground until it’s time to rain down on the crowd. The rest of the band’s misfits consists out of riff-machine Daan Kleijnen, the ever-stoned Roan Grasmeijer on bass and the absolute madlad of a drummer, Milan Massar.

With gnarly riffs and messages of the post apocalyptic decay of the world, Green Policy turns every venue into a tornado.

They’re currently working on their full-length debut album, »From The Gutters«. Recorded, produced & mixed by Peter van Elderen, known from Peter Pan Speedrock and TankZilla.

Can you say a few words about your band?
We are a psychedelic stoner-rock band based in Amsterdam/Utrecht. While our studio is in Utrecht, we mostly play our shows in Amsterdam! Our biggest inspirations are King Gizzard, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Black Sabbath, Slift.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Roan: When our former guitar player suddenly left the band and we had to decide to continue with the three of us or to look for someone else. Luckily we found Daan!

What can you be most proud of so far?
Milan: We’re most proud of our new album that we recorded with the legendary Peter van Elderen. We got to play on some very awesome vintage gear and we’re really excited to release it!

What was your biggest regret?
Milan: Not finding a label to collab with in time for our album release.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Dave: That would be our second edition of vondelbeuker vol.2 in the Vondelbunker, Amsterdam. The venue is a little bunker under a bridge in Vondelpark and it’s really cool. Lots of people came and we played with some cool bands!

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Daan: My first gig with green policy. It was the night before Kings day 2022 and illegally located. That was wild.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Roan: We listen a lot to the King Gizzard album »Petra Dragonic« because it’s very heavy and they do a lot of interesting stuff with time signatures.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Dave: Keep playing and practicing!!

What are your guilty pleasures?
Daan: Yeah I like wachting ink master just for the beef and tattoo drama.

Can you say something more about the music scene in Amsterdam/Utrecht?
We think our music scene is really sick! We have a lot of bands here and they are all very diverse.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We had 1 show planned on the 8 of June in The Cave in Amsterdam! We’re still busy with planning.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
We are busy with planning to release our new album called »From The Gutters« which will contain 8 songs. And besides that we are gonna play lots of gigs in the Netherlands and also hope to do a tour maybe!

How can people best support your band?
Come to gigs, listen to our music and come hang with us!

Do you have any message for your listeners?
To everyone who makes a effort to listen to our music, we love you all and you keep us going!
