Doomed Confessionary: Shadow, Beast & Devil (Elusive God)

Elusive God is an epic doom metal band from Croatia.
Fortress of sound equal to the brutal cosmic punch in the face of an ancient disgusting mythological giant awakened from the aeons of eternal sleep by earth-shaking, almost razor-sharp epic riffs. Expression at the very limit of suffering, anger, bitterness and euphoria, intertwined with embodiment of the darkest thoughts from the deepest corners of the soul and consciousness.
Elusive God are Shadow (guitars, vocals), Beast (bass) and Devil (drums).
Can you say a few words about your band?
We are Elusive God, a doom metal band from Croatia formed in 2018. So far we did three releases: »The Darkest Flame« EP (2020), »Trapped In A Future Unknown« (2022) and »Doom In Bohemia« (Live, 2023). Metal that we play is dark, heavy and atmospheric with really strong traditional metal influence.
What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
Songwriting for a new album and recording demos. The reactions for »Trapped In A Future Unknown« were amazing, so we wanted to develop our sound even further and offer something unique. The first results will be heard in early 2024.
What can you be most proud of last year?
Playing at Doom Over Vienna festival. This was the 17th edition of the festival with bands and fans from all over the world. It was a great pleasure and honour to be there. The festival was sold out. Also, we were completely blown away with the crowd reaction to our songs. Brilliant and METAL experience for sure.
Also, we recorded a brand new single and video for the song »Ples Demona«.
What was your biggest regret?
There aren’t any.
What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
We only played Doom Over Vienna festival last year and it was brilliant, as mentioned earlier. Great festival with a great tradition.
Regarding other shows and tours, we are regular visitors of plenty of metal shows in Croatia and neighbouring countries. 2023 was amazing concert-wise so it’s hard to mention everything. Let’s just say that it’s a great privilege to witness so many great shows of many great bands. METAL is alive and well!
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Definitely the band Ruïm and their album »Black Royal Spiritism – I. O Sino da Igreja«. Rune Blasphemer Eriksen once again proved himself as a visionary songwriter. Also, his guitar playing is ridiculously good. He actually elevated black metal style of guitar playing to a virtuoso level.
Also, a pleasant surprise was Bruce Dickinson’s return to his solo act together with Roy Z. This reunion was in fact long overdue and finally there’ll be a chance to see them live this year.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We have nothing planned at the moment. Interested clubs, festivals, bands and promoters can contact us on elusive.god.doom@gmail.com. Let’s see what we can do!
What are your plans for this year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We started this year with releasing our brand new video for the single »Ples Demona«. This song (completely in our native language) is a good preview of what can be expected from our new album.
Our main plan for 2024 is to record a new album. This will be our heaviest and darkest release so far, both musically and lyrically.
