Siberian post-metal/post-rock trio The Thanatonauts announce debut album »The Call« and premiere the first single »Дитя«!
Krasnoyarsk, Russia based post-metal/post-rock trio The Thanatonauts premiere the first single »Дитя« (“Child”) taken from their debut album, »The Call«, which is coming on December 2nd, 2022 via Polygon Records.
Child / [dʲitʲˈæ] / Ditya
“We consider this song one of the most successful and “hit” on the album, although it has a simpler structure and not the sharpest dynamics. The culmination of the song, as we realized during the recording process, strongly resembled the atmosphere of the music of Cult Of Luna (but it happened involuntarily, honestly).
The lyrics here were, again, inspired by mythology, but already Scandinavian. We are talking about the story of one of the aces (the main group of gods in German-Scandinavian mythology).”
The Thanatonauts is a band from Krasnoyarsk, which was formed in the spring of 2019. After a number of changes, the line-up of the group was finally formed by the spring of 2020, and it included three musicians.
Having slightly different musical views and preferences, the musicians set themselves the task of combining in their work the elements of melodic and melancholy post-music with the monumentality of heavier metal genres, as well as with the dynamic and “broken” parts of the rhythm section.
The novel Thanatonauts (Les Thanatonautes) by French writer Bernard Werber was the basis for the project’s concept and ideas, and such bands as Isis, Rosetta, Deftones, Katatonia, Meshuggah became main sources of inspiration for music.
