New band signing: Finnish band Death Obvious playing avant-garde death/black/doom metal!

While most bands have a familiar sound, Death Obvious have an unconventional, cohesive blend of sounds that I found alluring and it kept drawing me back to it at the end of the day. Even though the album was self-released on Bandcamp earlier in the year, to support music of this kind would only encourage more of such music to be created, and so we’ve decided to give it a proper release along with an additional song integral to the flow of the album. The album also has a new cover in the form of a photo taken by Petri Kiviniemi.

The band’s statement, “To hell with weak occult heavy, this is Death Obvious!

Death Obvious can be described as some kind of a supergroup: Sima Sioux and Lea LaVey both have their long and winding paths in the catacombs of Finnish underground. In early 2025 the duo released an eponymous digital album causing some good response in people who know quality when they hear it.

From the labels interested Transcending Obscurity was an obvious choice with their ideology, the triumphant back catalogue and the style all matching with what Death Obvious represents: high profile dark arts and war against apathy around music “industry”. Death Obvious is not doing this for living, this is for dying.

From the debut album to be released by Transcending Obscurity you can expect nothing but uncompromising music ideal for isolation and total erosion of soul. The group’s deep love for old school death metal is notable but with careful ears a wide range of influences prow under the surface like Cthulhu. You can hear they are Scandinavian. You can hear something absurd that can only be called “deathgaze”. Either this is the work of geniuses or some unknown force. This is an infernal luxury one can allow oneself.

Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it!”
