It’s finally here: 10 long years after »Silence Means Security«, the Parisian four-piece stoner/alternative rock band Computers Kill People have finally released their second album! »The Storyteller« is available this Friday, October 17, 2025, again on Kernel Panic Records, the label founded by the band.

Eleven tracks that definitively showcase CKP at their best, on every level. A hit factory and a riff fair, mixed by Étienne Sarthou (Karras, Freitot, ex-AqME) and mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult Of Luna). I happily recommend it to fans of Queens Of The Stone Age, Slomosa, Fu Manchu but also PJ Harvey and The Smashing Pumpkins!

»The Storyteller« can only be considered an album of change and renewal for CKP, who have never sounded so heavy while varying their sound to the fullest. What a pleasure to go from a full-throttle stoner punk track to a more bluesy and classy one, or to witness the band’s ease when it comes to summoning an indie rock, grungegaze, and even doom metal vibe! And I can say that the sequences are perfectly balanced as the tracklist unfolds. The secret: melodies that are much richer and more striking than in the past, and songs that are simpler and more refined in their intention. Add to that the lead vocals, which Loïc Wiels still provides the majority of, but which also give pride of place to Yome Venice and Karin Gousset, who each deliver great performances.

The other new feature is a more conscious and refined writing style, as well as a much more collective one. Each member of the quartet has taken to writing to express their feelings in the face of increasingly difficult current events. These new tracks reflect their questions, their minds occupied by a sick world, albeit with the desire to maintain a joyful musical mood! Through its themes, »The Storyteller« is a necessary reminder that everything is political, starting with art. CKP’s common thread is a strong and informed discourse, considering each human being as an individual within a system. Everyone must be able to find their place within it, despite the distressing overall decline in the rights of women, LGBTQIA+, and people of color.

»The Storyteller« is now available on your favorite streaming platform, on the Computers Kill People Bandcamp page, as well as on their YouTube channel.
