Shades Of Deep Water is a funeral doom/death metal one-man band formed in 2006 in Jyväskylä (Finland).
The sound has evolved over the years but the core still remains raw and unpolished. As do the themes inspired by mythology, northern nature, ancient worlds and of course Death itself. »The Years On Borrowed Time«, Shades Of Deep Water’s fifth album, delivers heavy and slow tunes in the vein of the band’s previous albums »Deluge Towards Its Close« and »Death’s Threshold«.
The album contains four long songs with an atmosphere built on layered strings and a strong presence of guitar harmonies.

The album’s themes are varied. The title track is about the inevitable end of human life. »Mare Septentrionale« takes you to the North Sea where you cannot escape the ruthless power of nature. »Night And The River« is inspired by the album’s cover art painted by the great 17th century landscape artist Aert van der Neer. »Closure« is the oldest song on the album. It was originally released as a demo in 2008. The song has a haunting atmosphere that gradually builds over its 13 minute runtime.
»The Years On Borrowed Time« is an album for those drawn to endless slow beats, strong atmosphere and harmonies of misery.
