R.I.P. Michael Spindley: Hrönn bassist/vocalist passed away this week
This week, Hrönn bassist/vocalist Michael Spindley sadly passed away.
The band posted an official statement yesterday: “We write a post we never thought would happen.
This week, we lost a friend, a brother… Michael Spindley.
We can’t really put into words what we’re feeling right now. It hurts too much. We loved him and we’re all heartbroken.
Spindley, was such an awesome person:
An immensely talented musician who brought nothing but the very best to all he did, showing us all what real talent looked like on and off stage.
A hilarious person who would always have us cracking up on stage or in the rehearsal room with his trade mark ‘klaxon’ sound and a grin, knowing full well we will not be able to keep it together.
A loving person who would not think twice about giving you a squeeze and a peck on the cheek telling you everything is going to be OK.
We’d all sneak a quick look with him on stage, in between his headbanging with his immense dreads, sharing a knowing wink, “how bloody great is this!” and he’d reply with a massive grin…never dropping a note and still looking like the epitome of a rock star.
We’ll never forget that first rehearsal. In walked the coolest dude and he just rocked. It was like all four of us had been the best of friends forever. And our friendship continued to grow, making every rehearsal, every gig, every cheeky message or hilarious gif, just the best thing ever…
And now we can’t quite believe you’re gone. Words cannot describe how much we miss you.
It is an honour to have called you friend and shared the stage with a legend.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung.
May you stay forever young.
