Yellowknife heavy alternative fuzz-rock band Gnarwhal return with »Ancient Veins«, a sharpened, furious blast from their forthcoming sophomore album »Lucid Machines«, out March 19, 2026, which was recently named one of Exclaim! Magazine’s most anticipated albums of 2026.

“»Ancient Veins« hits with sharpened teeth, faster, meaner, and wired with defiance,” the band says. “It’s the sound of resistance, blistering riffs and the repeated vow ‘I won’t die in machinery’ cutting through the static.”

Tight, unrelenting, and wired with punk urgency, »Ancient Veins« tears through themes of decay, control, and digital erasure. Gnarwhal inject their sludge-heavy sound with raw energy, proving they can burn just as fast as they crush.

Following the release of the album’s first single, »Circuits«, and the second, Wherewithal, »Ancient Veins« offers another glimpse into the dark, intricate world of »Lucid Machines«. Built from fuzz-drenched riffs and tectonic grooves, the record explores the friction between organic and synthetic life, reality and repetition, decay and renewal.
