»Spectral« closure: Sum Of R release final single and video!

Swiss-Finnish trio Sum Of R release »The Solution«, the final single and video from their latest album »Spectral«. The track serves as an instrumental counterpart to »The Problem« from the earlier album »Lahbryce«, completing a conceptual idea that has developed over the past three years. »The Solution«also reflects practical challenges the band themselves encountered during the production of the »Spectral« CD – issues that were ultimately resolved.

Since the beginning of the year, both distinct forms of »Spectral« are finally available. The vinyl edition presents a concise eight-track LP, designed for an immersive analog listening experience. The CD and digital edition expands the album to nine tracks, including »Null«, a piece carefully integrated into the album’s sequence. Rather than serving as a bonus track, »Null« highlights the band’s ongoing approach to sonic exploration, making the CD and digital edition a distinct experience alongside the LP.

Across its different versions, »Spectral« continues Sum Of R’s exploration of psychedelia, experimental doom, and krautrock-informed structures. Following the release of »Lahbryce« in 2022 and performances at festivals such as Roadburn and Desertfest, the band move further into heavier and more abstract territory. »Spectral« doesn’t offer easy answers, but like »The Solution« itself, it invites listeners to lose themselves in the process of finding their own.
