London-based experimental heavy outfit Troy The Band return with new single »Denial«, the sixth track from their second album »(des)«, due for full release this July.

Blending doom, shoegaze, noise rock and metal into a shifting sonic identity, the band continue to push into new territory. »Denial« exemplifies this evolution, featuring guest vocals from Soozi Chameleone (ex-Dead Witches) and Matt Sutton (Tayne).

“This is the second track we did with Soozi, and they absolutely smashed it,” explains bassist Sean Durbin. “Matt’s contribution at the end really elevates the whole thing, and I’m so grateful to both of them for the time and effort they put in.”

As the track developed, the band leaned further into its darker edges. With two distinct vocal performances woven together, »Denial« highlights both their adventurous songwriting and the collaborative spirit of the UK underground heavy scene.

“Choosing the vocalists was easy. We’ve been fortunate to play with so many great bands with incredible vocalists, so we just reached out. Everyone we asked said yes, so we shared the instrumentals and asked them to choose what they wanted to work on.”

The single follows »Journey’s End«, »Porous«, »Nothing«, »The Moment«, and »Adoration Of Ill Luck«, each offering a glimpse into »(des)«, a nine-track album being unveiled monthly ahead of its summer release.

Originally intended as a straightforward follow-up to 2024’s »Cataclysm« (Bonebag Records), »(des)« shifted direction after the band parted ways with their original vocalist. Rather than delay, Troy The Band embraced collaboration, inviting vocalists from across the UK heavy scene.

Recorded with Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse Studio in Haggerston, the album features contributors from Elephant Tree, Believe In Nothing, Black Groove, Codex Serafini, Black Orchids, Dead Witches, Tayne, and Black Shape, and marks drummer Jack Revans’ first full-length as a permanent member.

“We’re really proud of this record,” says Durbin. “It feels like an evolution of »Cataclysm« that’s more uniquely us. We didn’t plan to use different vocalists on every track, but it’s been incredibly enriching.”

The band have also confirmed Ana-Maria Terr Bordei as their new permanent vocalist. “We’re so happy Ana has joined us,” Durbin adds. “Her voice is unique, she’s incredibly creative, and we’ve already written nearly an album’s worth of new material together.”
