High Ruler is a stoner rock and doom metal band from Lincoln, Nebraska, known locally for their heavy, sludgy riffs. Founded in a basement in 2015 by Shane, Mike, and Chris, the band has since become a staple of the Lincoln underground music scene.

The band was initially formed by Shane, Mike, and Chris. When they decided they needed a more formal direction, they brought in Joel Bishnasty. After an exhaustive search and a brief period going by the “Chris Miller band” (which was quickly vetoed), the band officially settled on the name High Ruler, bringing on Lukas as their enigmatic frontman.

Over their decade-plus run, the lineup has included various contributors from the Lincoln scene, playing essential roles in the band’s history.
