“Eight songs of no-nonsense music that will scare the living shit out of your speakers and local wildlife when listened at the inappropriate decibel level.” – Everything Is Noise
Everything Is Noise hosted an exclusive advance stream of »No God On The Gold Coast«, debut LP from Salem, Massachusetts’ The Frēqs, ahead of its release this Friday.
The Frēqs’ »No God On The Gold Coast« rips through eight songs in less than twenty-six minutes, boiling their infectious noise/indie-rock influenced punk energy down to an even more potent and grimy bisque than ever before. Snarling feedback is held at bay only by the barbed-wire chords while hammering rhythms drive the low-end currents beefing with the vocal dirge.
Chaotic and unhinged don’t quite apply, as the record flows with greased perfection, thanks to the prime production. The record was produced, engineered, and mixed by Alex Allinson at The Bridge Sound & Stage Music (Isis, Lesotho, Miracle Blood), mastered by Keith Gentile at Labyrinth Audio, and completed with artwork by Ellis Roundy (The P.A.’s, Pink Lids). Additional vocals are provided by area noiseboys Nicholas Pentabona (BEDTIMEMAGIC) on »Lo IQ« and Andrew Wong (Miracle Blood) on »Secondhand Jesus«. Fans of Unsane, Karp, Laughing Hyenas, Pissed Jeans, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, McClusky, God Bullies, Cherubs, Intercourse, Melvins, and Miracle Blood will no doubt dig The Frēqs.

Guitarist/vocalist Seth Crowell states, “We’re big proponents of listening to an album from start to finish, so with »No God On The Gold Coast«, we incorporated a lot of samples and connecting loops. Several of these samples before and after songs, were actually happy accidents originating from radio interference, picked up by my faulty guitar pickup. We heard all these voices and broken sounds bleeding through between takes and decided they needed to stay. Listening to this record really puts the listener in the room with us when we recorded it.”
With their advance stream of the album, Everything Is Noise writes in part, “The Frēqs are the pistons that ignite the engine of potential that smaller acts are bringing this year with a debut album sure to blast louder and prouder than whatever bullshit your coworkers are recommending… If you need a mid-week pick-me-up, do exactly as the band stated above and rip through this album front to back and tell me you don’t feel something. Eight songs of no-nonsense music that will scare the living shit out of your speakers and local wildlife when listened at the inappropriate decibel level. We can’t say enough good things about The Frēqs, and they’ve sure enough earned their title with »No God On The Gold Coast«.”
»No God On The Gold Coast« is independently released digitally and on CD, and on cassette through Gum Cuzzler Records on May 29th. Find orders HERE and and scope their video for »John Travolta« HERE.

The Frēqs (pronounced Freaks) crafts a distinctive and debilitating brew of riff-heavy, fuzzed-out, noise rock, taking influence from bands like Melvins, Queens Of The Stone Age, and The Jesus Lizard into crushing and dirge-strewn realms. Across four EPs and several singles, the power trio – guitarist/vocalist Seth Crowell, bassist/vocalist Ian Mandly, and drummer Zack Fierman – was nominated for Best Rock Artist Of The Year at the Boston Music Awards in 2021.
Following four EPs and multiple singles since their 2019 inception, The Frēqs’ long-awaited debut album »No God On The Gold Coast« sees the band aiming to shape a new era for the band with a darker, more chaotic and frantic new direction.
