Lume is a post-rock and post-hardcore trio based in Chicago, Illinois, known for their atmospheric blend of shoegaze, slowcore, and heavy rock. Originally formed in 2014, the band consists of Michigan transplants: Daniel Butler (vocals, guitar), Dylan Hulett (bass), and Austin Hulett (drums). Their unique sound is often compared to acts like Cloakroom, Hum, Nothing, and Radiohead.

The band was established after a previous musical project involving Daniel Butler and Dylan Hulett came to an end. Butler, who had already been living in Chicago for six years, invited Dylan to move from their hometown in Port Huron, Michigan. After Dylan’s brother Austin graduated from school, he joined them in Chicago as their drummer, and the trio began writing, recording, and touring extensively across the United States and Canada.

Lume’s new full-length album »Blinding Love«, released in September 2026, is marking a return after the band members stepped back to focus on starting families.
