Devil’s Gateway is a Finnish death/doom/crust band emerging from the underground scene of Helsinki. Founded in 2023 as a duo featuring Hanna Virranpää on vocals and Harri Kuokkanen (Hooded Menace, Ride For Revenge, Hail Conjurer) on instruments.
The band delivers a blistering, unrelenting combination of old-school death metal weight and raw crust punk speed, creating a sound defined by crushing, almost industrial-like drums, distorted bass, deep dissonance, and inhuman vocals. Described as the bastard child of all the earliest Peaceville records combined, their sonic footprint is a must-hear for fans of Amebix, Deviated Instinct, Axegrinder, early Paradise Lost, early My Dying Bride, and Autopsy.
Devil’s Gateway unleashed their highly praised debut full-length album, »Eternal Grind«, in 2023 via BRC-30 Productions. Clocking in as a heavy, fast-paced assault, »Eternal Grind« showcases the band’s signature style: buzzsaw guitar tones, punishing d-beats, and cavernous growls. True to the roots of crust punk, their lyrical themes pivot around environmental issues and animal rights, using extreme music to mirror the bleak realities of the modern world.
Following the success of their debut, Devil’s Gateway returned in 2024 with a new 2-song EP, »Promised Land / No Escape«. This release showcases an even more powerful and refined sound, while strictly retaining a distinctively murky, lo-fi production that feels like being buried into the dirt alive.
Their second studio album, »Shreds Of Life«, was released in February 2025 via Crypt Of The Wizard, Natural Sciences and Death Grind Records. Clocking in at 32 minutes across six relentless tracks, »Shreds Of Life« expands on the band’s signature raw, dystopian sound. »Shreds Of Life« is available on CD and vinyl HERE.
