Battle drone sludge machine from Krasnoyarsk city, Siberia. Started in 2019.
“Everything is perishable, only music is eternal.” — Egor Mikhajlov (RIP)
Dura is a band from Krasnoyarsk, founded in January 2019. In that cold winter at the rehearsal base, gathered by Egor Mihajlov on guitar and vocals, Mark Znak on drums and Mihail Chernyj on bass. The focus was on a heavy and slow vibe. By this time had accumulated enough inner feelings, so the need to translate the emotions into music could not wait any longer.
The band consists of musicians, behind whose backs was the experience of participation in such projects as Below The Sun, Ultar, Truth, War Emu and other formations, existing in the expanses of Siberia and not only.

The course in terms of creating new musical creations was taken on slow and rocking themes, as music in the styles of Doom, Sludge, Death and Post metal accompanies us throughout life. It would be unfair not to mention the influence of the band KoRn. Yes, the gentlemen from Bakersfield really put us all right in our then immature minds! There was enough black metal, too, but it was time to express our thoughts in slow and languid musical forms. Under rather mystical circumstances at the rehearsal base were gathered: Mark Znak on drums, Egor Mihajlov on guitar and vocals, and Mihail Chernyj on bass guitar. The process of creation had begun. It’s worth to note that his main message was complete freedom of expression of own feelings and emotions without being bound to any particular stylistic patterns and tags. We played what it feels like and what it feels like. The ideas quickly took shape, and the first concert took place a week later.
In the summer of 2019, a recording session was organized. On the rehearsal base in the mode of collective playing, with the use of additional equipment, the compositions of the debut album were recorded. The release of the first album seemed to be just around the corner.
Beginning of the year 2020 shocks everyone with Egor Mihajlov leaving his usual material world…

Further existence of the band is put under a big question. Half a year later, having partially recovered from the grief, the band decides to organize farewell concerts. During these uneasy times for the band Mihail Pekhotin takes a guitar. For a long time Mihail was in charge of the bass vibe in the band Below The Sun, so he did not hesitate to play the planned concerts. Paying tribute to a friend and raising money to build a monument – these were the goals of the shows, and they were realized. But what next?
Another six months or so passed, and the morale of the remaining members of the band perked up, making it clear that the band should continue its activities despite the grief over the loss of its founder…friend.
By the order of the Committee of Universal Coincidences at about the same time an old friend Evgenij Kakotkin comes back to Krasnoyarsk from a long trip. Zheka had played together with Mihail Pekhotin, Egor Mihajlov and Aleksej Makryshev in a project called Late-Night Visitor. By the way, Late-Night Visitors managed to play in their native city for a while, which eventually led to the formation of the band Below The Sun.

Dura has three members again: Mark Znak, Mihail Chernyj and Evgenij Kakotkin. Rehearsals have resumed. The concerts fly one after another. The work on the album’s release takes a new countdown.
It seems that the modern world is ready to grind everyone and everything to shreds. But Dura is unstoppable…
Sludge must go on!
