Doomed Confessionary: Vincenzo, Massimo & Carlo (Partinico Rose)
Partinico Rose is a three-piece grunge/alternative/dark rock band from Ragusa, Sicily.
Led by Vincenzo Cannizzo (vocals, guitar) with Massimo Russo (bass) and Carlo Schembari (drums), Partinico Rose has been active since 2015, bringing their unique sound to audiences all over Italy. Their music mixes alternative/wave rock that recalls the sounds of bands such as Killing Joke, Bauhaus, Nick Drake, and more.
Partinico Rose’s self-produced debut album is titled »Songs For Sad And Angry People« and was released in December 2019. In May 2024, the band release their second album »Undeclinable Ways« via Earache Records.
Can you say a few words about your band?
We are a band from Sicily and we play with much love and creativity… the music that we love! We are not interested in imitating someone else… Oblivious our music is influenced from that bands that we love…but we looking to reinterpret the music with personality.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
The entry of Massimo on bass in 2017 and the deal with the Earache Records.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Mr Iggy Pop has broadcasted our song in his program “Confidential” on June 2, 2024.
What was your biggest regret?
Always we are looking for a management/booking but we haven’t found someone very serious that wants to take us!!
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Best concert in our city last year.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
We are honest: there isn’t any surprise in these years… we appreciate bands like Whispering Sons!!
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Protomartyr, Whispering Sons, Chelsea Wolfe……
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Be yourself ever.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Too much sex!! Ahahhah
Can you say something more about the music scene in Ragusa / Sicily?
For us the music scene is boring and low level…. and there is also a stupid competition.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We hope to get a good tour promotion of »Undeclinable Ways« also around Europe.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Resistance to the time and don’t split the band.
