The Cosmic Gospel | The new single/video by the Italian psych-rock project, The Cosmic Gospel, is a metaphor for the perversion of certain love relationships.
On Friday, June 14th, the single »I Sew Your Eyes So You Don’t See Me How I Eat Your Heart« by The Cosmic Gospel will be released on major digital platforms, accompanied by its psychedelic video clip, available the same day on the artist’s YouTube channel. The track in the “radio edit” version, is taken from the acclaimed debut album »Cosmic Songs For Reptiles In Love«, released last December in handmade deluxe CD and digital formats by the Italian label Bloody Sound.
The video for »I Sew Your Eyes So You Don’t See Me How I Eat Your Heart« features The Cosmic Gospel as the only protagonist, presented as both a human and a reptile, echoing the album’s title from which the track is taken. The song tells the story of a love that has transformed into something visceral and completely deviant, culminating in cannibalism, with a strong desire to inflict as much harm as possible on the other person, even resorting to esoteric practices.

The video was created by Loris Cericola and Paolo Tasso using Hi8 tape cameras. Cericola worked on the project by filming live at the Dong Club in Macerata (Italy) and editing the entire video clip with the video feedback technique, creating visual effects through an optical loop circuit, using only the light from the cathode-ray tubes of old TVs and monitors, which were filmed by a camera and then sent back to the TV through hardware and colour processors. Tasso handled the other shots and the editing of the scenes, as well as the colour correction.
The Cosmic Gospel is a journey of psychedelia, pop melodies, fuzz, distorted drums, love, and despair by Gabriel Medina, an Italian multi-instrumentalist musician from Macerata with Peruvian roots, who has been active for years in various bands including Hapnea and Bruxa. The debut album »Cosmic Songs For Reptiles In Love« (Bloody Sound, 2023) was produced independently, starting from ideas lost in time and later recovered and transformed after a period of emotional transition. With a visionary and never banal approach, and thanks to refined and personal melodic/harmonic solutions, the work manages to express all the turmoil that joy and pain can generate in the human soul.
