Sinfully slow, an unknown threat creeps out of the shadows. Riffs cut through the lush fog. Drums that do justice to the German word “Schlagzeug” in the first place break the ground. Deeply tuned bass runs open astral gates into distant worlds. Above all the chaos hover accusations that tell of fever dreams and dystopias, bundle dark forces and tell never described stories of hardly imaginable primeval times.

The sound cosmos of the doom & sludge band Raging Sloth, founded in Munich in 2018, captivates with its contrasting frenzy and inertia. The three musicians Max Horch (vocals, bass), Dennis Hecher (guitar) and Jonas Rückinger (drums) see themselves in the tradition of the “great old ones” of the genre. The ominous mixture of heavy, oppressive walls of sound and frenzied, hard groove riffs is reminiscent of grandmasters like YOB or Ufomammut.

Raging Sloth have used the last few years to perfect and refine their sound, to hone the musical quotations, but also to find their own expression in this sound universe. In addition to shows in and around Munich, it is mainly performances with the Swedish metal formation Bombus and the opening concert of the Keep it Low Festival 2022 that leave a lasting mark on the band.

To further establish their name, Raging Sloth will release their first EP in 2023, which the band recorded in Berlin together with producer Jan Oberg (Earthship, Grin, Slowshine) and master engineer Magnus Lindberg (Cult Of Luna).
