Valparaíso, Chile based stoner heavy metal band Faceless Empress drops new single »Death XIII« taken from their second EP, titled »The Escapist«, which will be released independently on August 28th, 2024.

At the end of 2016, Jacob Wilschrey began developing the first ideas and songs, inspired by bands such as Sasquatch, The Atomic Bitchwax, Astroqueen, Dozer, and Greenleaf. In the following years, Jacob invited David Clunes, and together they started recording some demos, initially as a side and sporadic project. Due to Jacob’s commitment to his main project, Soulrot, the ideas for this new band developed intermittently and experimentally over several years. However, each session in their laboratory was a step closer to forming their unique sound.

In 2021, after trying out several guitarists and drummers, the experienced drummer Pepe Benavides joined the band. That same year, they recorded their first EP, »Knives As Words«, which was released intimately and without much buzz. In 2023, the band’s lineup was completed with the arrival of Mauricio Castro. By 2024, they recorded their second EP, »The Escapist«, which represents the continuation of David and Jacob’s initial ideas, and with which they hope to open a circuit of live concerts and events with their complete lineup.

Faceless Empress’s sound shows a clear affinity for thunderous and dragging fuzz, but also incorporates many elements of heavy metal in terms of technique and speed, combined with catchy choruses and energetic rhythms. In their lyrics, Faceless Empress proposes a journey through dreamlike fantasy and the daily pains of those who dream them.
