»Paranoia Pilgrimage« is the second album by heavy psychedelic rock band Kant from Aschaffenburg, Germany, and will be out on September 27, 2024 via Sound Of Liberation Records.

Kant present a departure from their previous sound with the album »Paranoia Pilgrimage«. Recorded live in a small studio in the woods of Germany’s Black Forest, Kant remain true to their 70’s inspired approach to music making.

Drawing inspiration from bands such as Black Sabbath, Witchcraft, and Horisont, the album transports the listener into a mystical realm teeming with occultism, prophecy, and mystical beings.

The sound has taken on a darker, heavier and more sinister tone compared to their debut release »When The Strangers Come To Town«. This evolution is evident in tracks such as »Occult Worship« and »Foul Of Shades«, the latter being the first single release to be accompanied by a music video.

The symbiotic guitar interplay between Marius Seidel and Nicolas Jordan remains intact, supported by the melodic and rhythmic bass foundation of Elena Strähle. Drummer Bryan Göbel, who joined the band in 2022, brings both jazz-inflected accents and raw power to the rhythm section. All of this is complemented by the energetic and raw vocals of Marius Seidel, a departure from his style on the first album.

Album blurb:

With the album »Paranoia Pilgrimage«, Kant present a turning point in their sound. Recorded live in a small studio surrounded by the woods of Germany’s Black Forest, Kant stayed true to their 70’s inspired approach to creating music. Inspired by bands like Black Sabbath or Witchcraft, the sound became darker, heavier and more evil compared to their first release »When The Strangers Come To Town«, as shown by tracks like »Occult Worship« or »Foul Of Shades«, which will be the first single release accompanied by a music video.

Artist quotes:

Baba Yaga:
»Baba Yaga« is the second song of the album and single, inspired by the Slavic fairytale. I once stumbled upon this story by listening to the interpretation of »Pictures Of An Exhibition« by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. After hearing the two songs »The Hut« and »The Curse Of Baba Yaga« I took a dive into the lore of this pretty scary fairytale. The musical result after all is a song, where the overall construction is more of a story telling approach, than a linear versechorus-structure.

Paranoia Pilgrimage:
One of the oldest songs on the album, which changed quiet drastically before the studio. This one was our problem child. The version before this had cool passages and heavy riffs, but it didn’t feel as coherent as other ones. So we decided to do a little rewrite and the result became better than we thought. We’re so proud of this one, that it became the title of the album. Inspired by Black Sabbath, Pentagram and a little of The Doors it went from a part-afterpart to a dynamic and heavy doom song.

Lord Of The Flies:
This one is the newest of all songs and it got written quite quickly, compared to other songs on the album. We were sure, that we wanted to do a heavy, more swedish inspired song à la Horisont. So after Marius came into the rehearsal room with the Lord-Main-Riff we quickly decided to make a fast one out of it. While we recorded the demo, the vocals weren’t as high as they are now. But Bryan and Nicolas recommended that Marius should try to sing it as high as he can and so »Lord Of The Flies« became what it is today. It’s also the single with a music video, that’ll get released on the 6th of June.

Kant is:
Elena Strähle – Bass
Brain Göbel – Drums
Marius Seidel – Guitar, Vocals
Nicolas Jordan – Guitar, Vocals
