Stoke On Trent, UK based doom/death/groove metal band Doomsday Sun has just released their first full-length album »A Slow, Agonising Rapture« on August 24, 2024.

»A Slow, Agonising Rapture« is the debut full-length album by Doomsday Sun. A concept album, it aims to bring listeners face-to-face with issues that cause unrest in the world today, and demonstrate how they could lead to the total collapse of global civilisation.

The story of a charismatic leader, so desperate to realise his vision that he forsakes his own people, is not only told through the lyrics of each song, but also through the atmosphere that the music creates. »Hostile Takeover« utilises a deliberate pace, sludgy riffs and harrowing-sounding lead to create a sense of impending dread, »Jaws Of Love« is set rigidly to a stomping march of a rhythm, to conjure imagery of merciless, authoritarian rule, »Exterminate All The Brutes!« flies rapidly through punk and death metal influenced sections, a backdrop for snarling, spitting vocals that embody the aggression and savagery of those broken by oppression, and then »Utopian Blues« is mournful, melancholy with acoustic guitar parts, melodic leads and cleanly-sung vocals.
