Belarusian doom/sludge metal trio Smoŭž is back with their new EP, »Vypramie​​​ń​​​va​​​ń​​​nie«, which was released on September 30th, 2024.

Says the band: “Finally we are ready to present a new release that was recorded back in 2021. Having gone the long way since then, these tracks are our evolution. Sharper and more consistent, less brutally raw and more more atmospheric instead. Lyrical theme of this release is the catastrophe on the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Our home country of Belarus was heavily damaged by it back in 1986, and this outburst of death and destruction caused by human ignorance and safety rules neglection was worth its own EP. The first 2 tracks are our vision of sludge/doom with a pinch black or death metal obsession. The last one is half-improvisation and half-experiment with noise and electronics.

To put it into physical form, we united with our friends from Cosmic Storm to make a split release. Our common showcase is how Kryvian Doom underground should look: dark, heavy, brutal and full of hate. The split is already out on cassettes via Decadence Within Records.”

Decadence Within continues its support to doomed Belarusian underground and presents a split release of Smoŭž and Cosmic Storm. Both bands provided an EP release for this showcase, and we are now presenting its on cassettes.

Smoŭž is a sludge/doom metal band from the heart of Swampland. Spawned in Miensk, Belarus in 2018, now scattered between different cities in Poland.

Smoŭž should already be known for their »Rotting« EP which we released in 2020. This time they provided 2 tracks where they developed their style in a bit more sharply sounding doom with extreme metal influences, and followed it up with sick 12-minute improvisation with heavy techno-meets-noise electronics.
