Doomed Confessionary: Jerred & Jason (Glórach)
Glórach is an instrumental stoner/doom metal trio hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
They released their debut album »Bong Rip« on October 31st, 2024. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Hank at Valcour Sound Studio. Album artwork and layout by Samuel Mills aka DEFAME.
Glórach consists of Jerred on guitar, Colin on bass and Jason on drums.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Jerred: glórach is an instrumental stoner metal band out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The band was formed by Jason and I in February of 2024. We have been great friends for quite a while. We got together for many jam/weed sessions; and the album »Bong Rip« was spawned. We try to focus on creating that ‘live in the room’ kinda vibe. We’ve got a new bass player comin’ aboard as well so that is wicked cool.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Jerred: Not being able to jam/play live every day of the week!
What can you be most proud of so far?
Jerred: The amazing response from the fans! We are humbled and have met and smoked with some truly awesome people. We appreciate our fans a ton!
Jason: Yeah, the response has been really positive, we’re stoked!
What was your biggest regret?
Jerred: Dropping the Bong. It’s happened a few times.
Jason: I would say that I definitely trusted a few farts that were not trustworthy, to say the least. Lesson learned, and I’m a better person for it.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Jerred: Best show in our books is when we were headed to Oklahoma City to play at a venue out that way. It was just a comedy show once we hit the road, man. Drummer had to piss but we were so far away from any rest stop… but he found these locked up porto-johns off an exit. Dude just took too long to figure out that they were locked, haha! Ended up sliding between the two porto-johns before pissing himself, haha! Then we passed our homies, Surus, on the way out, who were stranded on the side of the highway. Just one thing after another in all its humor but we all made it out there, played a wickedly heavy show, and just had a blast.
Jason: Yeah, definitely that show! We had three dudes and a loud-ass setup crammed into an suv.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Jerred: Acid Bath is back at it! Super stoked for that!
Jason: Hell yeah, I’d love to be able to catch an Acid Bath show!
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Jerred: Lately, Candlemass »Epicus Doomicus Metallicus«. Mayhem’s »Daemon«. Exorcist’s »Nightmare Theatre«.
Jason: Ufomammut, the new Blood Incantation album, and old Coalesce. Also Surus, always!
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Jerred: Listen to your fans and not other musicians.
Jason: That if you do something you really dig, there’s gonna be other people in the world that agree with you.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Jerred: Taco Bell after almost every gig.
Jason: Those tacos from jack in the box. Nobody wants to admit they like them.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Tulsa?
Jerred: The music scene is super supportive of local bands here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There are tons of great bands here that are just wicked to listen to or catch live. It’s still growing but it’s dope so far.
Jason: Our scene has some amazing talent! Even the smallest shows have some musicians that can really shred. I feel like the quality of music around here is really high.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Jerred: We are currently working on planning upcoming shows. Give us a follow on socials, we update there all the time.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Jerred: We plan to hit the studio again this Spring and release a new album. Our future plan is to just keep jammin’ songs and playing live as much as possible. We really love what we do.
