New Finnish heavy alternative band Ceresian Valot have signed a multi-album deal with Prophecy Productions. Their debut studio album will be released via the label on May 23, 2025.
Ceresian Valot have partially risen from the ashes of much loved Finnish metal act Ghost Brigade, with which they share four key members; including main songwriter Wille Naukkarinen.
Ceresian Valot comment: “When the first few songs of Ceresian Valot found their final shape, we realised that our music doesn’t quite fit into any existing mold,” guitarist Tapio Vartiainen writes on behalf of the band. “That’s why having the chance to release our debut album on Prophecy Productions caused a wave of pleasure here at the Ceresian Valot HQ. We feel at home at a label that appreciates the feeling and atmosphere of music over narrow genre restrictions and also trusts their artists’ own vision.”
Prophecy Productions state: “We are all thrilled to welcome Ceresian Valot,” the label’s founder Martin Koller announces. “It does not happen often these days that a new act is signed, but in this case the time between their demo hitting my desktop and our first offer to the Finns was tellingly very short. Welcome!”

Rising from the ashes of Ghost Brigade, Finnish heavy alternative band Ceresian Valot premiere the video clip »Ajattomuus / Rajattomuus« (“Timelessness / Infiniteness”) as the first single taken from their forthcoming debut full-length »Uumen« (“Depths”).

“This song pretty much set the tone for both the album and Ceresian Valot as a band. When Ghost Brigade went on hiatus in 2015, it was quite a challenging time for me mentally. Playing in bands had been my life since I was a teenager and suddenly I was without that element in my life. Feeling lost and having an identity crisis at the same time. I didn’t play guitar almost at all for many years and I firmly thought that playing in bands was over for me. Then somehow, wounds started to heal, I grabbed my guitar and slowly started writing again.”
“Some of the first riffs I wrote back then are featured in this song. When I completed the instrumental version and sent it to the other guys, I remember thinking I might have written the best piece of music of my musical journey. This song was definitely a gateway for me getting musically active again. For us as a band, it was clear »Ajattomuus / Rajattomuus« would be the first single.”
“As for the arrangement, it’s “a song inside a song”. The heavier parts (“Ajattomuus”) in the beginning and the end represent one song, whereas the quieter, trip hop-py part (“Rajattomuus”) in the middle is another song. In that sense I guess the song has a certain progressive quality to it. Otherwise I would say it has many familiar characteristics I often use in my writing; the sabbathian undertones, sludgy doom, lots of northern melancholia and delicate, fragile quietness.” — Wille Naukkarinen, guitar
