Stone From The Sky are pleased to share the new single »Hic Sunt Dracones«! It’s the first sneak peak from »Bakeneko«, the 4th album from the power trio from Le Mans (France), out on May 30th at Argonauta Records. Heralding the band’s new psychedelic post metal identity, »Hic Sunt Dracones« is perfectly balanced with neck-breaking riffing and rhythms, as well as bewitching phases. To accompany it, the band unveils a live session video, just like at home. But this laid-back vibe in no way detracts from the bouldering that awaits you! A must for fans of Russian Circles, Pelican and Red Sparowes.

Like the feline yokai on the cover of »Bakeneko«, »Hic Sunt Dracones« inspires a certain majesty, something entirely admirable. But beware of its sudden attacks! Florent Sicard (guitar) hooks his audience with an ultra-punchy post-hardcore vibe, which he counterbalances with haunting, psychedelic passages of hypnotic tapping, comfortable arpeggios and ethereal strings. This can be at odds with the more mid-tempo rhythm provided by new drummer Clément Lagarrigue and bassist Dimitri Even, both of whom are in perfect harmony.

The band tell us a little more about what this track represents: “»Hic Sunt Dracones« is one of the most powerful tracks on the album, a burst of raw energy from start to finish, tossed between massive stomps and scorching breaths of distortion. Strapped on the horn of the behemoth, the journey feels like a gargantuan pendulum, bass and drums smashing the pillars of earth while the guitar is shredding clouds to pieces. A new shell for Stone From The Sky, and a new way to channel our anger. This track is a faithful gleam of the rest of the album: it will lead you through unknown territories and depths of violence.”
