Athens, Greece based experimental heavy rock band Hypnotic Nausea premiere the second single »The Mechanism« taken from their upcoming concept album, »The Age Of Nothing«, set to release on April 25th, 2025 via One Little Victory Records.

»The Age Of Nothing« is an auditory journey through a world on the brink of collapse, where technology has both advanced and destroyed human society, leaving behind a broken world searching for freedom, hope, and reconnection.

Set in a near-future dystopia, the album highlights the consequences of over-reliance on artificial intelligence, digital communication and the eradication of authentic human experience. Through a combination of distorted broadcasts, news reports and public service announcements, it reveals a world where technology and systems designed to enhance life have led to the disconnection of the individual from his or her own nature.

Hypnotic Nausea | The Mechanism

A dark, pulsating track that represents the individual’s struggle within a dehumanizing system. The lyrics reflect a twisted power dynamic, where one entity demands control over another, feeding on their fears and oppression. The song explores the false illusion of safety within the system, where people are enslaved by the very technology meant to protect them. The “default progression” speaks to the inevitable and oppressive evolution of the system, leading individuals to become mere cogs in the machine.

The first full track serves as a chilling introduction to the theme of the album. The breaking news, the important messages and the public announcements are a direct commentary on the empty, disconnected state of modern existence. The “age of nothing” is one where technology controls every aspect of life as human beings are reduced to passive spectators living other people’s dreams. Imitation, detachment, and hatred have replaced genuine connection, and the song exposes the ugly reality of a society addicted to the illusion of perfection.
