In 2021 death-doom band Divinist was formed in Derry, Pennsylvania by Corey Pearce (guitar, drums), Randy Thompson (vocals), and Eric Kause (bass). They spent a year smoking, watching horror movies, and recording. On March 3rd, 2023, they emerged with their self-titled EP on Necrotic Records.
