Featuring current and former members of Caspian, Junius, and Constants, acclaimed “doom pop” supergroup SOM blur the lines between the expansive depths of shoegaze and the heavy riffage of post-hardcore and metal.
After the release of the 2022’s »The Shape Of Everything«, SOM frontman and songwriter Will Benoit was looking for a way to stay in the creative headspace of the band, “Our next tour had just been postponed for a year, so we couldn’t go out and play our new record.”

Instead of sitting idle, Benoit found inspiration in playing along to some of his favorite Depeche Mode songs. “I was frustrated. We didn’t want to write more, we wanted to go out and play the songs we had just worked on for two years. In hindsight, I was just looking for inspiration in something familiar.”
The riffs quickly turned into rough demos that were sent to guitarist Mike Repasch-Nieves, who remembers “as soon as I heard them, I realized we can totally bring something distinct to each song and make them feel like ‘SOM’ in a unique way.” Soon the »Faith« EP was born. Drummer Duncan Rich and bassist Justin Forrest built a brick wall of rhythm that pulses and distorts, powerfully underpinning the swirling, delay-soaked guitar textures of Repasch-Nieves and inventive riffs of Joel Reynolds to create the heaviest ode to synth pop we’ve ever heard.
