Seattle hard-rocking rebels The Blasts are bursting with enthusiasm to share their debut self-titled EP released on January 24th, 2025. This release exists as a bridge between eras of the project, as the natural evolution of their sound is underway.
Band founder Sean Dolstad explains, “This EP started out as rough songs that were put together over the past year. The plan was to write some 70’s influenced hard rock songs that echoed music I loved from being a kid.”
“Jason and Donnie came on board and we started playing out around town. We realized pretty quickly that there was something there and now it’s a band in full swing. Turns out that people still like loud rock n’ roll like we do.”

Photographer and musician Chris Schanz recently teamed up with the group to add synth touches to a reworked version of their single »Shout N’ Twist«. The addition of this element potentially signals a fresh direction The Blasts are venturing toward in 2025.
Speaking about the recent collaboration Dolstad added, “the direction of the project is changing slightly. Our personal influences have been leaking in and the sound is evolving. We’re exploring new sonic territory, adding some synth, locking in on the groove elements harder and dumbing down the bluesier guitar solos. This next album will be be darker, while heavier in both melody and groove.”
The Blasts recently played the 2nd annual WeirdoFest featuring 20 Seattle area bands including The Scoffs, Patrons of Husbandry and Novachrome, and The Blasts are also scheduled to share the stage with Detonator, Stoned Evergreen Travelers and Shivering Denizens with more regional dates to follow!
