Black Moon Cult unleashes official video for »Ophidian Future: The Children Of Yig« – a serpentine descent into cosmic doom!

Toledo, OH – Heavy psych/doom voyagers Black Moon Cult return with their most ambitious work yet – the official video for »Ophidian Future: The Children Of Yig«, the crushing title track from their upcoming debut album, »Ophidian Future (The Children of Yig)«, set for release September 4th, 2025 via Black Doomba Records.

The new track is a sprawling, multi-layered journey of hypnotic riffs, psychedelic textures, and apocalyptic storytelling. With lyrics steeped in serpentine prophecy and cosmic mythos, »Ophidian Future« channels visions of a primordial egg cracking open to birth a venomous serpent deity, heralding a return to the garden and the dawning of time.

The official video takes the song’s dark cosmology and transforms it into a kaleidoscopic visual odyssey – weaving performance footage with retro-futuristic psychedelia, celestial imagery, and the creeping menace of doom. Viewers are pulled into a parallel dimension where space, myth, and sound coil together like the scales of an ancient serpent.

Founded in 2021 by Kaleb Riser (vocals, guitars, synth), along with Kevin Lewis (bass, synth), Jeff Vandebussche (drums, percussion), and Logan Mais (synth, theremin), Black Moon Cult has emerged from the underground with a distinct sound rooted in early Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Hawkwind, yet fearlessly pushing forward into the realms of neo-psych, prog, and fuzz-drenched stoner rock.

Following breakout singles like 2023’s »Supernova« (Tee Pee Records) and »Hollow Traveler«, »Ophidian Future« marks the next evolution in Black Moon Cult’s sonic exploration – and their most ambitious statement yet.

Kaleb Riser explains: “»Ophidian Future« is thematically influenced by Lovecraftian cosmic horror, ancient Chinese mythology, and the biblical tale of Eden. It imagines a reptilian race – cast out and stripped of their limbs – now rising again to reclaim the garden that was once theirs. It’s a cosmic revenge story told in crushing riffs and swirling synth.”

The album was produced by Black Moon Cult, recorded at The Mohawk Studio by S. Daley, and mixed/mastered by Tony Reed (Mos Generator, Saint Vitus) at HeavyHead Recording Co. in Port Orchard, WA – lending the record a massive, immersive soundscape befitting its mythic subject matter.

Having toured the Midwest and Eastern U.S. extensively since 2022, including a commanding performance at Maryland Doom Fest 2024, the band continues to build momentum. They’ve shared stages with heavy-hitters like The Obsessed, Today Is The Day, Mirror Queen, The Atomic Bitchwax, and Brimstone Coven.

»Ophidian Future (The Children Of Yig)« is more than a debut – it’s an invitation to shed your skin and enter the cosmic unknown.
