American instrumental stoner rock band Numerical Control Society announce new EP »Moonshot« and premiere the first single »Astral Hobo«!

Chicago, Illinois based instrumental stoner rock band Numerical Control Society premiere the first single »Astral Hobo« taken from their upcoming second EP, »Moonshot«, set to release on April 14th, 2023.

Numerical Control Society (NCS) is an instrumental metal band from Chicago, IL. Formed in 2017 from musicians from different musical backgrounds, they quickly connected over similar interests in slower, riff-based progressive rock and the idiosyncratic melodies, drones, and rhythms present in 20th century classical music.

NCS songs explore dark, bold, complex chords, incandescent melodies, delicate refrains, and languid, unexpected harmonies. In a review by the Chicago Doom Confederacy, their sound is described as “Noise and texture flutter, enticingly, beneath the all-consuming riff…If you like King Crimson and you like stoner rock, look no further.”

In April 2023, they will be releasing their second EP »Moonshot«. Songs on the new EP continue with a base of heavy, fat slabs of dense riffs while incorporating quiet spaces, bright interludes, and charging rhythms. This release and their first EP »Circular Reasoning For Squares« are both available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
