The Black Strain is a sludge metal band from Savannah, Georgia. Drawing inspiration from 90’s blueprints like Cavity, Damad, and Buzzov•en, The Black Strain plays whiskey-fueled crust with swamp aesthetic.

Savannah’s sludge-doom heavyweights The Black Strain are back now with their crushing full-length debut, »Rose Amongst The Skulls«. Released in September 2026, the record cements the duo’s reputation as a massive, uncompromising sonic wrecking machine.

Following the underground success of their 2025 self-titled EP, »Rose Amongst The Skulls« showcases a band operating at the peak of their downtuned powers. Blending the raw, swampy grit of traditional Savannah sludge with the hypnotic weight of psychedelic stoner doom, the new release delivers ridiculously thick, rich riffs with sonic nods to icons like Black Sabbath, Celtic Frost, and Sleep.

The six tracks on the record are an exercise in sheer sonic volume and texture. The project is led by the devastating, Hellhammer-esque growls and thundering percussion, combined with massive, wah-riddled guitar fuzz that lands like a crumbling skyscraper.

The release follows the successful roll-out of the heavy, driving lead single »Cinderella« in late August, which quickly captured the attention of underground metal circles.
