Arsis Thesis is a doom metal duo of brothers hailing from Houston, Texas.
Nick Blevins (guitar/vocals) and Jake Blevins (drums/vocals) formed the band back in 2015 off the backs of many other prog rock ventures vowing to create an untamable aural cataclysm while sticking to there genre defecting tendencies from past projects.
While Arsis Thesis creates a familiar doom metal resonance their lack of loyalty to the conventions of the genre are a defining feature of the sonic assaults they construct. Their first EP »Pangea« was lauded for diving into unique spaces traditional doom often does not tread, incorporating noise rock, math rock, sludge, post hardcore, psych, and other experimental tendencies across the five track debut.

Arsis Thesis have resurfaced now with a full-length album »Ustanak«. While this release retains all the virtues of sonic exploration as their first release it creates new focus when it comes to subject matter. “Ustanak” is the Serbian word for rebellion, and the title is not just a characteristic of the tracks held within.
It’s an album about unending unfaltering rage and all the baggage that comes with it. A white hot rage for systemic oppression that befalls a world that doesn’t care for its inhabitants. It’s a six track mission statement on channeling anger into a productive, disciplined end point that undulates, careens and course-corrects itself through a plethora of sonic landscapes just as the uprising its namesake eludes to surely would as well.
Recorded at AWYL Studios.
