Stonekind is a heavy rock duo out of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Their music blends elements of heavy psych/blues, stoner rock, 90s grunge, post-rock, prog, doom, and desert rock to create a unique musical palette of their influences. With a foundation of infectious rhythms and fuzz-drenched riffs, the band layers textured vocals and ethereal guitar sounds to take the listener on an epic emotional journey… with both flowing and unexpected transitions along the ride.
Davis (guitar, bass) and Jeff (drums, vocals) started jamming in 2016 and immediately began writing instrumental songs. They officially formed Stonekind in 2018 and went into the studio that year with the help of Jacob on bass and Jeff adding his vocal and lyricist talents to the project. Their 4 song self-titled EP was released in 2019 with a positive response in the underground heavy rock scene including recognition on the Doom Charts. The band’s first full-length LP entitled »Spirit Of The Void« was recorded/mixed during the heart of the pandemic in 2020 and released in 2021 earning #7 spot on the June 2021 Doom Charts.
After »Spirit Of The Void«, Stonekind began writing and recording new songs for their 2nd full-length album. For this work, the duo sought to expand further beyond previous records and create a concept album which was heavy yet uplifting, complex yet relatable. The first single »Storyteller« was released May 3, 2024, and the album »Hollow Ground« is set for release on June 14, 2024.

With this album, we sought to create something heavier and more visceral… while still allowing for the ebb and flow of emotions and intensity found on our previous records. »Hollow Ground« is essentially a concept album in which the songs flow into one another and contain recurring themes like many of the classic records we all know and love. There are four instrumental tracks dispersed throughout the album and plenty of psychedelic interludes and unexpected transitions… possibly a treat for those more keen on instruments and atmosphere rather than vocals/lyrics. We hope this record takes you on a journey from start to finish and brings you back feeling inspired… as it has for us.”
