Appalachian progressive sludge trio Weight Shift stream their new EP »Blue Ridge Bifrost«

Asheville, North Carolina based progressive sludge trio Weight Shift has just released their new EP »Blue Ridge Bifrost« on July 25th, 2025.

The band comments: “This is a split EP with our friends in Wise Blood to raise funds for the continued support of those still in need after hurricane Helene.
100% of the proceeds from the limited edition CDs will be donated to help rebuild our community. You can find them on our Bandcamp and at shows while supply last.”

Hailing from the southern Appalachian Mountains, Weight Shift is a progressive sludge band formed in 2021, featuring Seth Hutchinson on guitars and vocals, Timothy Todd Cook on drums, and Brian Harris on bass.

Weight Shift released their debut record, »Chaotic Hunters Rise«, in 2022 with a blend of heavy riffs, grooving drums and sword & sorcery storytelling.

Weight Shift released their sophomore record, »Haled From Aether«, in the fall of 2024. It dives deeper into their influences with an array of vocal styles, intricate drum grooves, and evolving riffs. The album itself unfolds like Pandora’s box, a complete concept that explores unleashed chaos.

This is Weight Shift’s side of »Blue Ridge Bifrost«, a split EP with their friends Wise Blood (Johnson City, TN). All proceeds from the physical release will go directly toward supporting Appalachian communities affected by Hurricane Helene.

“We have some exciting news that we’ve been waiting to share!

We teamed up with our friends in Wise Blood for a special benefit split EP titled »Blue Ridge Bifrost«.

Both of our bands are from the Southern Appalachian Mountains, which was hit hard by Hurricane Helene last fall. A lot of folks are still rebuilding, and this release is our small way of helping out.

We’re putting out a limited run of 100 CDs, with all proceeds going directly to people still in need.

We have a preorder live on our Bandcamp now! It is set to release on all streaming platforms Friday July 25th. We will begin shipping the CDs August 1st. The CDs will only be sold through Bandcamp.
