R U I D O is a stoner rock band formed in early 2023 in Mendoza, Argentina. The project was founded by Ariel Karlen (guitars), Rober Aguilar (bass), and Sebastián Salcedo (drums). After a period of sonic exploration, Germán Trigueiro Soler joined on vocals, consolidating the band’s first official lineup.

With this line-up, the band made its live debut alongside Los Blandos, a historic reference within the Mendoza stoner scene. After several performances, Sebastián left the project and was replaced by Horacio, Rober’s brother. This change propelled a sonic evolution toward a more psychedelic stoner sound, during which the band performed under the name Caronte on various stages throughout the province.

In early 2025, the group decided to pause live activity in order to focus on recording their first studio release. In July of that same year, they traveled to San Juan to record at Bonsai Estudios, under the production of Rodrigo Collado, a student of renowned sound engineer Mario Breuer.

Once recording was completed, Horacio left the band for personal reasons. This marked a new turning point: the project was renamed R U I D O and the debut EP »Seis monedas para Caronte« was released – a title that symbolizes the closing of a chapter and the pursuit of a new path, leaving behind the previous vision. The EP is currently available on all digital platforms.

In early 2026, after an intensive search, the band found its new drummer: Emir Alem. His addition preserves the rawness and heaviness of the previous approach while adding a distinctive technical imprint that brings greater depth and character to the band’s sound.

Sound & influences:
R U I D O’s sound ranges from the raw, desert-driven stoner of Kyuss and Fu Manchu to the dense sludge of Down. Within the national scene, the band draws strong influence from Los Antiguos in terms of power and intensity, as well as from Los Natas in both sound and the very essence of stoner rock.

Their music combines low-tuned riffs, powerful rock-solid foundations, and passages infused with 1970s psychedelia and a distinctive 1990s spirit. The overarching influence of Black Sabbath is, of course, unavoidable within this style.

The band’s proposal aims for a straightforward, heavy, and unembellished sound, driven by a strong and distinctive identity.
