A cold descent into grief and myth.
The official video for »Silent Waters« captures the heart of »Songs From The Veil«: frozen Nordic landscapes, quiet waters holding memories, and the weight of loss beneath the winter sky.
Driven by atmospheric melodic death metal and the striking contrast of male vocals with Gogo Melone’s haunting voice and screams, the video moves between the human and the mythic, echoing old Finnish beliefs where silence, water, and the afterworld intertwine.
Stark. Emotional. Northern.
A moment where the veil thins and sorrow becomes light…
With their third full-length album, As The Sun Falls continue to explore Finnish mythology, northern landscapes, and human fragility, crafting a sound that is as vast as it is intimate.
»Songs From The Veil« is an invitation to step beyond the visible world and into the ancient shadows of the North.

Finnish melodic death metallers As The Sun Falls return under the long Nordic night, delivering their most immersive and thematically unified work to date. Set for release on May 22nd, 2026 via Theogonia Records, »Songs From The Veil« follows the frostbitten melancholy of »Kaamos« (2024) and the deeply emotional EP »Pohjoisen Sydän« (2025), pushing the band’s vision further back, beyond memory, beyond time, and into the mythic heart of Finland itself.
Rooted deeply in Finnish mythology and old beliefs, »Songs From The Veil« weaves tales of the Soulbird (Sielulintu), ancient creation myths, the shadowed realms of the afterworld, and the legendary Fire Fox, whose burning tail is said to set the northern skies alight. These mythic narratives are intertwined with stark, nature-driven imagery: the heavy stillness of night falling over the land, the cold brilliance of winter stars, and one deeply personal song centered on grief and the loss of a loved one, anchoring the album’s folklore in raw human emotion.
Musically, As The Sun Falls refine their signature blend of atmospheric and melodic death metal, crafting vast, melancholic soundscapes where crushing riffs, soaring melodies, and fragile vulnerability coexist. The result is an album that feels both ancient and immediate, cinematic yet intimate, where folklore, nature, and human fragility bleed seamlessly into one another.
The album was mixed and mastered by Mikael Andersson (Soundport Studio), with drums tracked by Joel Notkonen and edited by Francisco Palomo. Gogo Melone contributes female vocals and screams on »Silent Waters« and additional female vocals on »Daughter Of The Air«, while spoken vocals on »Daughter Of The Air« are performed by Joel Notkonen. The visual identity of »Songs From The Veil« is completed with artwork and layout created by Gogo Melone.
»Songs From The Veil« stands as a haunting reflection of the North itself: beautiful, merciless, and eternal.
When the veil thins, the North remembers…
