Formed in Perth, Australia by Jon Vayla (Boltgun) in 2022. Snaw follows a vision of musical collaborations, alternating black metal/post metal with dark ambient/experimental work. Influences from Marduk, Ulver, Swans, to Atrium Carceri, Lustmord and Beyond Dawn. Collaborators all have unique styles, creating a musical and thematic synthesis appealing to fans of ominous, avantgarde music.

On debut album »A Light Scalping«, Vayla is joined by Robin Stone on drums to explore the depths of dark ambient and experimental music. Listeners might hear influences of Jóhann Jóhannsson, Lawrence English, Lustmord and the haunting brass sections of Beyond Dawn. The middle section of this instrumental album brings a burst of Swans type heaviness, with the minimal ambient/noise of »The Crossing« providing a noir film atmosphere.

The artworks by Marc Potts are fitting companions to the first two Snaw albums, like ancient stories recalled around fires at the end of everything.
