Australian psychedelic stoner rockers Couch Wizard have unleashed a music video for the opening track »Fear Awakens« from their latest EP, entitled »Fear«, which was released on April 12th, 2023.

01. Fear Awakens
02. Fear Economy
03. E.B.
04. Forum Of Fear

Says the band: “Lyrics scribbled inside the front cover of an old English book the Eve of Midsummer, depicting a bare chested voluptuous call girl with flowing brown locks mounting a goat headed beast in an ancient rural English ritual.

The devil’s lettuce influenced words during the great floods of 2022, whilst across the seas the Russians were dropping the first bombs of the Ukranian war. The world was shaping up for an ever more fear inducing climate, the devil weaving new layers into the tale of this world we call our home and the story we call our lives.

Over the next few months, riffs escaped the box and bounced around between all minds of the band. Gradually over the course of 7 months morphing into the song we have today, »Fear Awakens«.”

4 piece Wizardry from the psychedelic hills of Bundjalung Country, Northern Rivers, New South Wales.

Couch Wizard’s ritual-like live set takes listeners on an eerie, theatrical journey through time and space. Slow, melodic, hanging intros followed by hard-hitting, heavy riffs seep into your soul, painting mystical scenes of smoky mountains and volcanic fury. The Wizards will have you believing an hour set is made up of only three songs, casting spells that distort your perception of time.

Turning stones and turning the stoned, healing the land through collective hands from the shadows.

Their entirely unique sound draws inspiration from Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Sleep, Heavy Trip, and Hobo Magic.

Recorded and mixed by Ben Rompotis at Alleyway Studio.
Produced by Brett Cameron.
Mastered by Richard Snowden.
Bass on »Forum Of Fear« by Allex Hall.
Lyrics for »E.B.« written by Harry Pye.
Artwork by Ballroom.
