Ten years back to the roots – Fairtrade Floyd like you’ve never heard before. From iPhone memos to cassette tapes, these are »The Early Tapes«.

This compilation brings together rare demos, rehearsal jams and live recordings that trace the earliest steps and transformations of Fairtrade Floyd. From fragile iPhone memos to raw rehearsal takes and energetic performances, it offers a behind-the-scenes journey through Fairtrade Floyds history, centered around the song »In Money We Trust«. A special collection for those who want to experience the songs in their most unpolished and authentic form…

1 – In Money We Trust (First Demo – Solo Unplugged)
This very first demo was recorded on the same day the “Jack Daniels Diddley Bow” was built. Recorded on an iPhone on February 12th, 2013. A true time capsule of the moment the whole journey began.

2 – Floyd (Cassette Demo)
The first demo of our song Floyd played on the Diddley Bow and recorded on a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder sometime in 2013. It captures the raw spark before the song grew into its later form.

3 – Ninety Nine (First Demo – Solo Unplugged)
The very first demo of the Fairtrade Floyd version of “Ninety-Nine”, recorded on an iPhone on October 18th, 2013. You can hear the very first spark of what later became a fan favorite.

4 – In Money We Trust (Second Demo)
A demo version featuring claps, bass drum and other percussion elements, created before the final drum parts were written and added to the track. A raw snapshot of the song still in its experimental heartbeat.

5 – Green Shoes (Vocal Acoustic Demo)
This was one of the first demos for our song “Green Shoes”, featuring some vocal ideas. As you can hear, there were some changes made in the song later. A rare chance to hear this tune in its earliest, unfinished form.

6 – In Money We Trust (Live @ Club Wakuum 2021)
A live version from the very first gig performed with the new Fairtrade Floyd 2.0 line-up at Club Wakuum in Graz on May 21st, 2021. You can feel the energy of a new era.

7 – Floyd (Rehearsal Room Jam)
A quick jam in the rehearsal room back in 2013, featuring cajón instead of drums. Recorded on a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder. A glimpse of how loose and playful the band sounded in this writing & rehearsal phase.

8 – Diddley Memo
A little jam recorded on an iPhone, on the same day as the first “In Money We Trust” demo. It’s one of those fleeting moments we almost lost to time.

9 – Doo (Demo)
This was a very strange rehearsal room demo of a song that later became “Doo”. Apart from the verses, it sounds completely different from the version that was later released.

10 – In Money We Trust (Acoustic Memo)
This is a very lo-fi rehearsal room memo of „In Money We Trust“, featuring 2 guitars instead of a Diddley Bow and clipping drums, but without vocals. Almost like overhearing a private sketching session, raw & unfiltered!

11 – Ninety-Nine (Second Demo)
This is an acoustic demo of our song “Ninety-Nine” featuring cajón. Recorded in the rehearsal room on October 19th, 2013. It shows how the song slowly found its groove.

12 – In Money We Trust (Single Version)
We guess you know this version very well – why else would you be here right now? The song that turned into our signature piece. Released 10 years ago in April of 2015.

13 – Cost4 (Kickstart Remix)
This track comes from a transitional phase shortly before the Fairtrade Floyd project began. A restless electro experiment that feels like an outsider compared to the later band sound.
