Hailing from Salzburg, Austria, Grey Czar is a four-piece heavy rock outfit featuring two guitars, keys, bass, drums and up to three vocals. Their music is melodic and riff-driven, oscillating between heavier and mellow sounds, while having a flair for progressive elements.
The band was founded in 2010 when its four members came together to share their mutual passion for music. Taken by the idea to play stoner rock the band quickly discovered new grounds and as the group’s personalities evolved so did the music, which continues its natural development.
Since their self-titled debut LP in 2012, Grey Czar has released an EP »The Men Who Harvest The Sea« in 2014, and their session-recorded sophomore long player »Boondoggle« in 2018, which was well received in the scene.
About »Euarthropodia«:
“We developed the idea for a concept album in 2019 and sketched a rough story around a circuit of decline and rebirth. The music was produced with a DIY spirit in our rehearsal room and it was once again recorded and mixed by our bassist and engineering wizard s’Woifal. Here we are in 2024, excited to release our new LP in the coming year. With „Euarthropodia” we created our manifest to the exploitive nature of man, we formed a musical journey from the concept of a lackluster jewel, which was abandoned by its former inhabitants and reoccupied by an insect species to fulfill a predestined atrophy.
It was quite a long way to go until we put in the last piece of the puzzle and completed the production process but now we are excited and eager to share it with the world. We consider »Euarthropodia« our most consistent record and a further step in our evolution as a band.”
»Euarthropodia« tells a tale of a failing human species, which is eradicated in a cataclysmic event. The remains of man and earth’s biomes is overtaken by insects. The manifold phylum of Arthropoda raises a chromatic empire on top of a monochrome wasteland. The euphoria of new growth and the joined effort of a myriad of invertebrate beings working towards a new federation of insect species, the glorious queendom of Euarthropodia. But all is not well, cracks appear in the newfound world and exploitation and neglect become ever more apparent, culminating in a self-consuming measure for sustainment. The depletion of resources and the selfish ignorance of the arthropodic noblesse press their weight upon the gaunt forms beneath, ultimately leading to the downfall of the Euarthropodic empire. There remains but one last hope… a new beginning among the stars.
