Rotterdam is a Bay Area doom/sludge trio formed during the dark days of 2020.

What began between longtime friends Brenden Massa (vocals/bass) and Wyatt Slanec (guitar) evolved with the addition of drummer Ian Poole (formerly of deathcore legends Defiler), shaping a sound rooted in slow, heavy, melodic weight.

Born and raised on 70’s classic rock and 90’s grunge, yet – molded by doom, heavy psych, and desert rock along the way, they are making a powerful sound that’s not easy to define. With an enthralling live show that brings passion and a dynamic energy from this power trio – gaining the attention of their underground scene and peers alike.

Rotterdam’s debut album »Falling In Vertigo«, recorded with Patrick Hill (King Woman, Chrome Ghost, Oromet) at Earthtone Studios in Sacramento, was released in March 2026.

The band is currently performing select shows across the region.

Says the band: “»Falling In Vertigo« is out now.

This record is where we’ve been living in for the past couple years. The weight, the slow grind, the moments where you’re not sure which way is up. We hope it finds you when you need it.

The full album streaming now and available on two ultra limited edition LPs and CD in our Bandcamp now.”
