»Echoes« is the long-awaited sophomore album from Ethereal Darkness, an hour-long odyssey through grief, resilience, and the weight of being human. Six sprawling compositions carry the listener through landscapes of loss and quiet defiance, each one a story that demanded to be told, echoes heard from some distant, unreachable place. Melancholic guitar harmonies, crushing atmospheric weight, and vocals that shift between anguished growls and solemn cleans weave together into something vast yet deeply personal. Mixed and mastered by legendary producer Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios, with cover art painted by acclaimed artist Adam Burke (Nightjar Illustration), »Echoes« is a monumental statement from the deepest reaches of the human condition.
Each song descends into its own darkness, but none truly stays there. From the collapse and renewal of »Gone With The Tide« to the cyclical decay and rebirth of »The Cycle«, from the still, frozen solitude of »Winter« to the devastating farewell of »IV,” the album traces a path through places most people try to avoid. »On The Edge Of The Cliff« is the darkest point, a free fall with no safety net. But it’s followed by »Realization«, the album’s longest and final piece, where something shifts. Not exactly what you’ll call a happy ending, but at least, an honest one.

Ethereal Darkness emerged in 2018 as the project of guitarist and vocalist Lars, who channeled a lifelong devotion to heavy music into a debut album that drew immediate underground acclaim. Smoke and Shadows (2019) established the band’s identity: atmospheric melodic death metal woven with doom and black metal threads, rooted in emotional depth rather than spectacle. The project soon evolved into a full band with Brecht (guitars, clean vocals), Mike (bass), and Peter (drums), building a formidable live reputation across European stages including Dark Mental Festival (DK), Alcatraz Metal Fest (BE), and Darken The Moon (BE). In 2024, the addition of lead guitarist Zjesse completed the lineup, bringing three guitars to bear on compositions that demand breadth and precision in equal measure. Now, with their sophomore album »Echoes« complete and Dan Swanö’s masterful production behind it, Ethereal Darkness has never been more prepared to carry its weight into the world.
