We’re ecstatic to have Gateway on the label and announce the news of their eagerly awaited full length release »Galgendood« that is all set to be unleashed in early 2023. They’ve taken their pulverizing death/doom metal music to the next level on this one and it’s easily better than anything they’ve done in the past. I have little doubt that it will be regarded as one of the best albums in the style when it comes out.
A brand new song from the album will be part of the impending 2023 label sampler but in the meantime you can listen to a small teaser here!
Band’s statement: “Transcending Obscurity Records has been a go to label for me with bands like Jupiterian, Paganizer, Morbid Evils and the old school returns of Wombbath and Master. I admire the care and work that goes into each physical release and I’m glad to be a part of something that’s on this scale with such a great community. This means a lot to me as a Belgian one-man project.
Through this vessel I always find a way to reside my demons. So here I am again, with 6 tracks of utter nightmarish sonic destruction.
»Galgendood« feels like the right follow-up to the previously released »Flesh Reborn« EP whilst worshipping the early stuff I made. I wanted to create a focused listening experience with tracks that build worlds and tell stories. Dark, putrid, grimy and atmospheric. I experimented with new concepts and sounds in an almost ritualistic method. This is all that came out of the deep, dark caverns of my mind. I hope it resonates and inspires. Strength to all!”
The front cover uses the last known painting of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, stripped of all color. A somber warning against evil speak.
