Welcome To Holyland arose out of the ashes of experimental post-doom band Zeus Walks The Earth. This time going for a more sludgy stoner doom sound, slow and heavy. Rehearsals took off somewhere in the autumn of 2015. The purpose was to find a balance between heavy riffing and atmospheric soundscapes.
The band entered Patrick Delabie’s Studio 195 in March 2018. Four songs were recorded live in the studio and resulted in quite a raw/heavy and natural sounding demo. The self-titled demo CD was released on the 18th of May 2018. The demo was well received in the local underground. A tape version of the demo was released on the 22nd of April 2019.

In May 2022 Welcome To Holyland started the recordings of the debut album »Ominous«. The album was recorded live in the rehearsal room under guidance of Jonas Nyaarr from Go To Eleven who also mixed and mastered the album. Although the album still sounds as raw and heavy as before, an evolution can be heard in which the band deviates slightly from the long monotonous minimalism of the demo to slightly more compact and diverse songs.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Jonas Nyaarr.
