Black Reuss returns in 2026 with »Death«, the long-awaited fourth chapter in the river-of-life concept that has shaped the project since its inception. Following »Metamorphosis« (2021), »Journey« (2022), and »Arrival« (2023), this new album completes the first conceptual cycle – notas an ending, but as a threshold into deeper creative currents still ahead.

The river remains the central metaphor inthe Black Reuss universe: a life in constant motion, shaped by transformation, adversity, and the quiet gravity of experience. With »Death«, theriver reaches the realm where identity dissolves and silence uncovers truths too deep for words – a chapter of release, surrender, and profound reflection. It marks the closing of onepassage while hinting at new, unseen waters beyond.

Musically, »Death« moves further into the evocative sphere of melodic gothic metal, blending heaviness with introspection. Its soundscape is dense, immersive, and emotionally charged. Tracks like »Endgame«, »Oblivion«, »Phoenix«, and »Elysium« explore the spectral spaces between finality and transformation, where endings shed their skin and reveal the essence beneath.

The first glimpse into this world arrived in January, with the release of the lead single »Oblivion«, a descent into loss and transcendence. This was followed by »Endgame« in February, a darker, heavier statement that confronts collapse not as defeat, but as transformation. The full album »Death« was released on February 27th, 2026, completing the four-part journey that began five years ago.

True to the Black Reuss ethos, »Death« is a deeply personal creation. Maurizio Dottore wrote, composed, performed, and produced the entire album, shaping it with singular vision and emotional clarity. He is joined by Diego Rapacchietti, the drummer of the legendary Swiss thrash band Coroner, whose power, precision, and musical instinct bring a commanding pulse to the record.

The sonic identity of »Death« was forged through the craftsmanship of Roberto Macis (mixing, Solid Twin Studio) and Giovanni Versari (mastering, La Maestà Mastering Studio). Vocals were captured by Roberto De Luca at erreDIelle Studio; drums were recorded by Tommy Vetterli at Newsound Studio; all other instruments were recorded by Dottore himself at BlackReuss Studio. »Death« stands as a monumental conclusion to the four-part journey that began five years ago. It is the end of a circle – but not the end of the river.

A cycle closes, its waters sinking into the unseen. Yet the river continues through hidden currents, and Black Reuss follows its flow into new, uncharted darkness.
