The Split 12″ from BOOZEWA and NOWHERE, released December 2, 2025 through DeepRest Records, is the result of a collaboration both bands had been imagining since first meeting in 2022. What began as simple admiration for each other’s work quickly became something deeper once they realized how naturally they connected as people. The idea of a shared release stopped being a question and became an inevitability. Both bands approached the project in their own way, recording their sides independently before having the record mastered as a unified piece. The result captures a raw and immediate portrait of where BOOZEWA and NOWHERE both stand creatively right now, noisy and chaotic in one moment, hook filled and unexpectedly playful in the next.
For BOOZEWA, the split serves as a snapshot of the exact energy they have been carrying with them in recent years. Formed in Coatesville Pennsylvania in 2020, the trio of Jessica Baker, Rylan Caspar, and mRc has become known for attacking their art with humor, grit, and a deep love for the people and music that shape them. Their sound nods toward KARP, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Green River, Black Flag, and Melvins, but always lands somewhere uniquely their own. This release arrives after a steady run of EPs and albums on DeepRest Records, including »First Contact«, »Deb«, »Developing Good Health«, »Maybe I’m A Bird«, »Bon Vivant«, and now the new Split 12″, which finds the band writing some of the most immediate material of their catalog.

»Garbage Day« opens the BOOZEWA side with a burst of abrasion wrapped around something undeniably catchy, the kind of track that feels like it was written in one breath. It is loud, confrontational, and strangely fun, a perfect reintroduction to the band. »Landline« follows, an instrumental that channels the best of the early nineties. PAW, TAD, and the deeper corners of the era’s three letter royalty echo throughout its structure. The piece then folds directly into »The Big Dumb«, a song that has lived within the band for years but only now found the version that finally felt right. It tells the story of two people endlessly trying to one up each other until everyone else ends up losing around them. The BOOZEWA side closes with »4 Out Of 10«, a track that blends humor and frustration through the lens of upbringing and adulthood. It is short, sharp, and honest in the way the band often is.
The NOWHERE side provides the perfect counterweight, emphasizing the noise drenched, experimental heaviness the band is known for. »Conviccion«, »Neurogenesis«, »New JNCOs«, and »You Lose« expand the record’s world outward, adding texture and atmosphere to BOOZEWA’s direct and hook driven approach. Together, the two sides create something more complete than either band could have delivered alone.
The Split 12″ was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Mike Bardzik at Noisy Little Critter, with album art created by mRc. It is available as a limited black vinyl pressing through DeepRest Records and through BOOZEWA’s online platforms at boozewa.com and boozewa.bandcamp.com. The recording lineup features Jessica Baker on bass, Rylan Caspar on guitar, and mRc on drums and vocals.
For anyone new to BOOZEWA, this release serves as an ideal starting point. For those already familiar with their evolving universe, it offers the clearest look yet at who they are right now. Immediate, loud, messy, and heartfelt, the split feels like KARP playing Modest Mouse songs while shouting lyrics pulled from a lost SST catalog. It is BOOZEWA in their purest form, and in partnership with NOWHERE, it becomes something even bigger than the sum of its parts.

About BOOZEWA:
Formed in 2020 in Coatesville Pennsylvania, BOOZEWA is a sludge punk and noise rock trio that approaches heavy music with humor, heart, and a deep devotion to DIY creativity. Built on the combined experience of bassist Jessica Baker, guitarist Rylan Caspar, and drummer vocalist mRc, the band blends distortion soaked riffing with unconventional structures, raw energy, and a sense of playfulness that sets them apart from their peers. Their influences circle around KARP, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Green River, Black Flag, and the Melvins, yet BOOZEWA always twists those inspirations into something distinctly their own.
The band’s roots stretch back decades through previous projects like Backwoods Payback, All Else Failed, and Michael Rudolph Cummings, giving BOOZEWA a foundation built on years of touring, collaboration, and shared artistic history. Once formed, the trio released a rapid succession of EPs and albums through DeepRest Records, each one expanding their sound while maintaining the unfiltered immediacy that defines them. Their music has taken them across the United States, earning appearances at Maryland Doom Fest, RPM Fest, and support slots alongside Unsane, CKY, and Amigo The Devil.

BOOZEWA creates art for the sake of creating art, driven entirely by instinct and the joy of making noise together. The result is a loud, messy, emotionally charged world built on camaraderie and curiosity. Whether through their recordings or their chaotic live shows, BOOZEWA continues to carve out a space that feels alive, unpredictable, and always entirely theirs.
