Rising Brazilian metal force Headspawn have unveiled their new single, »Creature«, a deeply intense and thought-provoking song that serves as the first glimpse into their forthcoming conceptual EP, »Samsara«. Blending sonic weight with raw emotional depth, the band delivers a striking narrative centered on childhood abandonment, inspired by real-life accounts linked to Brazil’s former FEBEM (State Foundation for the Well-Being of Minors).

With a darker, denser, and more immersive sound palette, »Creature« takes listeners on a journey through rejection and isolation. The song portrays a character forsaken not only by their family, but also by a hostile society – and, symbolically, by God Himself – offering a stark and existential reflection on human exclusion.

»Creature« stands as one of the central pillars of »Samsara«, a five-track conceptual EP that explores different stages of a life shaped by suffering and the constant conflict between the individual and their environment. The opening track, »Dura Mater« represents the conception of life, while »Hive Of Ghouls« delves into dehumanization and social displacement. »Martyrdom« addresses femicide and the structural mechanisms that perpetuate cycles of violence, leading to the closing track, »Sleep«, where the protagonist confronts the void of an existence marked by pain.
A recurring conceptual thread throughout the EP is the word “life,” appearing in four of the five songs with distinct meanings – reinforcing the record’s core idea: life as the central axis, with pain as its constant companion.
Musically, Headspawn showcase a clear evolution, embracing slower tempos, heavier atmospheres, and a more introspective approach without sacrificing the layered textures that define their identity. In »Creature«, this direction resonates with the haunting density of Alice In Chains, while drawing from influences such as Black Sabbath and Pantera – balancing heaviness with introspection.

Across »Samsara«, the band further expands its sonic range, incorporating elements reminiscent of Sepultura, Machine Head, and Slipknot, navigating seamlessly between heavy, groove, sludge, and doom metal with both intensity and melancholic depth.
The EP was produced, mixed, and mastered by Victor Hugo Targino (Cangaço, Forahneo, Omago), marking a significant step forward in the band’s artistic maturity.
Formed in 2019 in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Headspawn features Alf Cantalice (vocals/guitar), J.P. Cordeiro (bass), and Marconi Jr. (drums). The power trio has steadily built a reputation as one of the most intense and promising names in Brazil’s new generation of metal, earning a spot as an opening act for the almighty Sepultura.
With »Creature« and the upcoming »Samsara«, Headspawn reaffirm their artistic identity while pushing their creative boundaries – delivering a work that merges sonic consistency with conceptual depth, inviting listeners to confront, without filters, the harshest aspects of the human condition.
