The band comments: “Last year has been incredible for Midgard, a true leap in our career!

We released »Verdugos«, our second album, and created a fantastic video for »Pearls To The Pigs«, a track featured on the album. We had an amazing, high-energy launch party for »Verdugos« in São Paulo, played several shows, and we’re very happy with the positive feedback from the specialized media and our fans.

2025 promises many exciting updates! Keep listening to »Verdugos« on all digital platforms.”

Formed in 1999, Midgard initially proposed to make an 80s heavy/doom sound and, with this mindset, began work with the release of 3 demos – »Midgard« (1999), »Self Liberty« (2000) and »Lamúria« (2001) – totaling 5 original tracks and featuring Kleber Perini (bass), F.L.Y. (vocals), Vinícius Perotto (drums), Omar Rezende and Fábio Vargas (guitars).

The release of these initial materials, between 1999 and 2002, yielded several positive reviews in specialized publications in Brazil and abroad and was very well received by the public.

In June 2001, Midgard was the opening band for The Dark Ride Tour by the German band Helloween, in the city of Catanduva/SP.

After several more shows, the line-up changed almost completely – with the exception of bassist and founder Kleber Perini – and, in 2003, they entered the studio to record their debut album »From Ashes…« for the Force Majeure Records label. Released in 2005, produced by Alex Voorhees (Imago Mortis) and featuring guest appearances on two tracks – including a cover of »Solitude« by the band Candlemass – and also vocalist Ronaldo Simolla (Delpht) on several tracks, the 9-track album featured Daniel Paes de Barros (vocals), Marcos Figueiredo (drums), Rafael Bianzeno and Walter Piglialarme (guitars) in the line-up and, as it was quite different from the work and proposal of the original line-up, it was not widely publicized.

Although the album gave the band many shows and, in 2008, participation in the W:O:A Metal Battle Brasil, the distance between the members – who lived in different cities – ended the activities of that line-up.

Over the following decade, some attempts at a comeback were made by members of the previous line-ups, but nothing concrete was achieved. Finally, in 2021, after 12 years of inactivity, Midgard resumed activities, with the release of the re-recording of the track »Midnight Rainbow« – originally released on the demo »Lamúria« and recorded with different lyrics, under the name »For Midgard’s Sake«, on the album »From Ashes…« – and its music video, released at the 14th edition of the Roadie Crew Online Festival in May. Plans to record a new album began, but the entire process was postponed due to the sudden death of their new drummer, Marcos Gil, who was struck down by aggressive throat cancer. The band entered a period of mourning, resuming activities at the end of 2021.

In mid-2022, the single and music video for the unreleased track »Crying At The Party« were released during the 27th edition of the Roadie Crew Online Festival, having been chosen by the event’s curators as one of the 24 best of the year among 176 participants.

In August 2024, the recordings for the second full-length album, »Verdugos«, were completed, with its release still pending.

In July 2024, Midgard was a guest band during the first Latin American tour of the European hard rock band Cobra Spell.

The current lineup features original members F.L.Y. (vocals/bass) and Omar Rezende (guitar), as well as Julio “Tio Chico” Della Togna (drums), Paula Jabur (vocals) and the recent addition of Miño Manzan (keyboards).

In November 2024, the second album, »Verdugos«, was released by the Som do Darma label.
